Costa Blanca North, Costa Blanca South, Costa Calida, Murcia, Almeria and the Costa Tropical are beautiful coastlines that have, in parts, lagged behind the Costa del Sol in terms of development and price. A general rule of thumb is that property on or near the sea is more expensive than property inland. If you are looking for rental income from Spanish property then coastal property in Spain is much more easily rented out to holiday makers than inland property. It is up to you to decide what your budget can afford and what use you want to make of your property.
Beach front Spanish investment property is also available for clients with a healthy budget.
People who are thinking of relocating to the Spanish sunshine often start out buying Spanish investment property on the coast and later sell up and move inland to a traditional Spanish town property.

Another factor that has to be kept in mind, especially by older people, is the proximity and convenience of local shops. Some of the holiday developments or ‘urbanisations’ can be empty and lack community in the winter months and often require a car journey of 15 minutes to local amenities. Traditional properties for sale in Spain may lack some peace and quiet but they are usually located within a year round community and they can be much more affordable.
Communications are generally excellent with most areas being connected by new motorways. In the hills high-level bridges carry these roads over deep valleys and sometimes through tunnels. Journey times between population centers, airports, etc. are dramatically reduced compared with a few years ago.
In the spring of 2005 GPG staff surveyed the market on a fact finding tour for Spanish investment property and holiday home real estate in Spain and the findings, property types and typical prices are detailed in the real estate in Spain location guide . There is no guarantee that they are all still available. Local taxes (community charges) obviously vary but should be enquired about because they have to be paid – just as in the UK!
